Sunway Dental

Children’s Dentistry

Positive dental experiences can help children build habits that support a lifetime of oral health. Sunway Dental provides family-friendly dental care for infants, children, and teens in a calm, respectful setting, with parents involved in decisions and home-care guidance.

When should a child first visit the dentist?

A first dental visit is recommended after the first tooth appears and no later than the first birthday. Early visits allow the dental team to check development, discuss feeding and brushing, and help children become familiar with the dental office before a problem occurs.

Children’s dental services

Care is based on the child’s age, development, comfort, and clinical needs. Services may include:

  • Dental examinations and professional cleaning
  • Fluoride treatments and cavity-risk guidance
  • Dental sealants for suitable permanent molars
  • Tooth-coloured fillings when decay requires treatment
  • Monitoring tooth eruption, jaw growth, and bite development
  • Assessment of dental injuries or tooth pain

Home care for growing smiles

Begin brushing as soon as the first tooth appears. Young children need help and supervision to use the correct amount of fluoride toothpaste and reach every surface. Clean between teeth once they touch, and limit frequent sugary drinks and snacks.

Helping an anxious child

Tell your child that the dentist will count and clean their teeth. Avoid words that may create fear, and let the dental team explain procedures in age-appropriate language. If your child has medical, sensory, developmental, or previous dental concerns, please tell us before the visit so we can plan appropriately.
